Hi. This is a series I call “Neither here, nor now”. My focus of work are large paintings of family and friends. Images of backyard BBQ’s, holiday get together’s, and candid moments help to put me back in time. This body of work explores nostalgia, loss, and the pain of wanting the past. The compositions are complex but subtle. Like a dream with multiple layers. My figures pose as if knowing the picture is capturing a moment beyond them, those common, profound, moments that connect us all. My color is saturated and expressive. I blend realism, abstraction, and bold color, to create a visual narrative that becomes an emotional minefield. Reflection is my guide to perception. I turn haunting images into mythic abstraction.

The Napa and Sonoma counties fires were some of the most tragic events in recent memory. How do you document such a dramatic event in one image and give the piece the impact it deserves? A respect for the lives of the people involved and a reverence for history is my guide. How do you chronicle the impact? I do it with respect for the underlying tragedy and personal stories. One image at a time. The linoleum cut plate is the basis for what I call my “collage Prints.” The block is printed on various colored papers, then cut and pasted to form the collage.
